Can someone test this for me please?

I used to be able to ask Siri to call anyone on my HomePod. The HomePod speaker would play the ringing out tone and then when the person picked up, the phone call would be handled by the HomePod that took the command.

Now, when I do this, after the HomePod rings out to the recipient, when the recipient picks up, the call would transfer to my iPhone. So I’d have to manually select on the call screen which HomePod to handle the call. Very annoying as the phone doesn’t even go to speaker.

I believe this started with one of the later versions of iOS 15 but was hoping 16 would’ve fixed it.

I just used my original HP to make a call leaving the iPhone in another part of the house. It worked just fine everything was done on the HP. Using all the latest software (no betas).

Ok thanks for that. Don’t know what the story is. I just recently did a factory reset on this particular HomePod too.

My phone was right beside me. Wonder if that’s the issue but it never was before.

Do you have “Hey, Siri” set up on you phone by any chance? I just disabled it and it worked.

Does it behave if you turn that off?
I haven’t tried yet but disabling “Hey, $hithead” on my phone worked. It works now this way so I don’t want to mess with this delicate software lol. I don’t use it anyway, always use the side button for Siri.

I always had Wi-Fi calling enabled on my phone so not sure why the change now.

We’ve both said it before, certainly over the last three or four years, that Apple are without question, going out of their way to make Siri even more crap year after year after year, and they are absolutely succeeding in that mission.

Now, with OS 16 more than ever, anytime my wife or I makes a personal request on the HomePod… “Who is speaking?” It’s just about every single time. This came out with OS 13 (or maybe even 12) I believe. They’ve had at least three friggen years to polish it FFS.
