Insane scroll lag in email clients (rMBP)

Why is the scrolling so obnoxiously bad in email clients on the rMBP? Granted, I've only tried Mail and Outlook so far, but emails will literally freeze for half a second when you try to scroll through one from top to bottom. And this is after a clean install of Mountain Lion.

I don't understand this at all, especially since the newest Safari is so fast (I smell tons of voodoo going on behind the scenes with that).

Well what are the specs of your machine?

Same issue for me. Scrolling through threaded conversations in Mail can get choppy. I have the same specs as you do.
