We all have heard that the M1 Pro is fast, has amazing speakers, an awesome screen, ports, etc.

But the best feature, by far, has to be its battery life.

I'm getting 3x the battery life than I did with the Intel-based 2019 MacBook Pro 16".

To the readers, what is the best feature about your new M1 Pro/Max?

The battery life is great but I sold my Intel 16" for an M1 Air a year ago. Coming from an M1 Air to this M1 16" screen is the biggest wow factor - whereas the battery is a small step down.

I haven't used it enough yet. The screen is excellent, the performance is amazing considering that I've been installing software and running scripts all day and the fan hasn't kicked on once, the battery life has yet to be tested.

Can you post the battery page that lists how much you use versus battery usage? Mine is draining 12.6 watts according to the coconut battery.

Battery life seems to be decent, not 3x as better for me but a bit better.

It is probably doing some indexing and other background jobs. Try measuring after a week or two of usage

My indexing stopped after an hour, but I did a device-to-device transfer. My battery life has been decent, I got 9 hours of screen on time but it was very light usage. So I will use it as a normal laptop and report back in a week to get a good average and see if it is actually draining or something.

I typed it very long just to use the keyboard, the travel and sound are great.

I have the 14" and 16" with me to see which one I like. I keep telling myself the 14" is the more practical machine. But I keep grabbing the 16". The battery life and screen are so good. It's a tough decision for me!

I suppose if the MBP is connected to the monitor 90% of the time, the battery life is not as important. I am now leaning towards the 14 because based on some recent observations by others, the battery life is not that bad. Consensus right now seems to be 10% drain for each hour on light to moderate use.

I was in the same boat as you, initially, but the 16" screen has won me over.

The extra battery life is just a bonus.

2" extra size is not that much to lug around, but that 2" screen is simply mindblowing. For $200 extra? It's a no-brainer given my needs.

Yeah, I totally understand. I have the 16 sitting in front and center of my LG 34 inch 5K2K display and even despite the HiDPI and better scaling options, I'm barely looking at that display. The extra 2" makes this a different experience than the 14.
