All, my 2012 i7 macbook air CTO is exhibiting some instability periodically in clamshell mode. I have it in a 12 south macbook air stand - very nice. I connect it to a 24 inch Dell Ultrasharp monitor connected with a display port to DVI connector. Also attached are a magic trackpad via bluetooth and via the monitor's USB ports and a single USB cable to macbook are microsoft keyboard, logitech webcam, microsoft mouse, and USB HDD.

The whole setup works very nicely. However, occasionally when I've plugged it all in, it is sleeping, and I return to the unit to wake it and begin using it, I'll find that all the windows have "fallen" in a heap by the bottom of the screen. The "fix" is to unplug the display port cable, and replug it repeatedly. Occasionally, I'll see other types of graphics corruption as well - including a full screen up grey static. I suppose it is possible that the display port cable is to blame but I've used it faithfully with my older macbook air for some time (though never in clam mode). Occasionally I have to open the "clam" and reboot the unit in order totally for things to work right again.

The unit is exceptionally cool the whole time - this is not a clamshell excessive heat build up issue in the slightest.

Any thoughts?
