Instagram today expanded the number of photos and videos that can be added to a single carousel post, reports The Verge. Standard grid posts have long been limited to a total of 10 images and videos, but the limit has now doubled.

On Instagram, carousel posts allow users to "photo dump" multiple photos and videos at one time, and a user's followers can use swipe gestures to view all of them. Multi-image posts show up on a user's page and in the Instagram feed.

Instagram rival TikTok supports posts with up to 35 photos, so the new limit brings Instagram closer to the TikTok's image options. Instagram has been testing higher image limits since earlier this year.

Support for more images in a single post is rolling out for users around the world as of today.

it has way to many sponsored things these days, plus i rarely see anything from people i really enjoy following unless i look them up, and don't get me started on reels
Yeah agreed, can’t remember the last time I saw a post from someone I actually know. That and reels turned the app into TikTok
IG is getting just as bad as Facebag. Delete all these apps and reclaim your life!! :)

but what about posting multiple photos that have different aspect ratios? Do they all still conform to first photo of the batch?
This seriously needs to change. It’s infuriating. And there needs to be a way to post photos in other aspect ratios. A 2:3 photo taken on a full frame/35mm camera either needs to be cropped to 4x5, or pillarboxed within a 4x5 frame. And then you pillarbox it, Instagram doesn’t support PNG with transparencies, so you have to pick between white or black borders that invariably don’t display well when Instagram is either in dark mode or standard “light” mode

Tip: I refuse to let my Instagram turn into Facebook. I only follow people I know (and only those that post relevant pictures/stories of their day to day life) and maybe an artist or two (that don't post excessively). I unfollow (or hide) people who post memes.

Degradation continues. Whats next, a marketplace? Oh wait, they have ruined feed algorithm to the degree that each 2nd post is advertisement, it is already marketplace… but for advertisers

since they took away the search latests hashtag , IG is just rubbish, all you see top posts and sometimes unrelated to your search

Same. If I don't personally know them, I don't follow them. I also instantly tap the Instagram logo in the top left, then following, every time I open the app, so I only see people I follow.

I don't really see a need for this, but it's okay I guess.

20 photos. Lovely.

I'd really just like to be able to open the app without being accused of using "automated methods" to access my account.

I'm not doing any automation at all. I use the "Add to Reading List" option a lot because I'd like to revisit a post, or save the image from it. Instagram has a habit of adding tons of new posts to the top of the feed, so I lose those other posts. Adding them to my Safari Reading List is a way of bookmarking them.

Yes, I could tap the save/bookmark button on a post on my iPhone, but there's no Instagram app for iPad so I can't then see those posts on the iPad. If I add them to my reading list, then I can see them in Safari on the iPad. That's why I do it that way.

I think Instagram are confusing adding a post to my reading list, and reading it later in Safari while I'm signed into my account, as some sort of automation.

I've asked them to explain why they think I'm doing something dodgy - given that the penalty is my account could be locked through no fault of my own - but they haven't responded. They won't; they're a massive company and don't really care about the users.

What’s instagram? I forgot about them after they moved the photo button to the top right few years ago. Never looked back! (And I don’t care for tic tac either)

When you open Instagram tap on the home icon in the lower left corner and then tap on Instagram in the upper left and tap Following. I do this every time I only want to see posts from people I'm following. I wish I could make this the default setting.
