I was trying to install OS 10.4 using the install cd's that came with my friend's Macbook.

My imac restarts and crashes everytime, any reason why it is doing this.
I really don't want to have to buy tiger just to use my touch (currently synching to my boyfriend's PC. OUCH!!)

Any advice will be appreciated.

If it's an Intel Macbook you won't be able to use the OS X discs on a PowerPC like your G5 iMac. You should be getting a kernal panic if you try.

I feared that would be the problem. Thank you

No problem. I personally experienced that when I couldn't find one of the two discs from my G5 when I had to rebuild it but I had the discs from my MacPro available...obviously didn't work. I had to get a hold of the PPC version elsewhere.
