install 10.6.7 on a 10.5.8

Hi all
I hope you don't mind me asking the following question.
Do I need to do a clean install to upgrade to Snow Leopard? I mean, wipe all and fresh install and install all programms(non Os X)?
I would like to do that so I can install Fusion 4.

I did a fresh install with a restore from time machine on one system and on my other system only did the upgrade.

Both systems are running fine.

Both systems are not having problems with fusion 4.
