When I try to install apps it says : "please connect to wifi."

Is there any way to turn this off as I have a completely unlimited data plan and my 3G speed is between 4 and 6 Mbps depending in where I am.

The apps you're trying to install are bigger then 20Mb. You'll have to sync them over with iTunes.

Not unless you jailbreak.

Thanks Intell

Hmm , sounds like Apple did a deal with the mobile providers to stop people using their data. Stupid really as I can watch streaming TV on the iPhone and munch up the megabytes.

Pretty much.
They also want to make it dumb proof so no one thinks they can update navigon or tomtom over 3G and they get stuck waiting forever for the 1.3GB download to finish:)
