Hello everyone!!

I have a Mac Mini Server with (2x) 1TB HDDs and I would like to install Catalina on it. Is this possible? Can someone give me a write up or point me to a guide if it is able to be done? I’ve found some stuff online but it seems a little outdated. Any help or insight into this would be greatly appreciated. TIA

The way you do a RAID 1 is to install the RAID software like SoftRaid and configure the 2 drives together. In your case, you will need to install Catalina and the RAID software first, on one of the drives. Once the OS and RAID software is installed, use the RAID software to configure the 2 drives as RAID 1.

Another option would be to use one drive as the active installed drive and use something like Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the first drive to the second drive. With using RAID 1, you install a third party software or OS update that creates a system issue, like a crash, then both drives will reflect this. By using something like Carbon Copy Cloner you can always have a good last clone of the system because you can decide when to do the clone copy.

Just a thought.
