install "free" on mac os x

Is there a way to install free on mac os x? it exists by default on centos. I tried copying the binary from centos and that did not work.

Example output: (on the centos box)

             total       used       free     shared    buffers     cached
Mem:          1280        149       1130          0          0          0
-/+ buffers/cache:        149       1130
Swap:            0          0          0

Maybe vm_stat will give you what you need...
