I just spent the past day getting windows 7 x64 on my mom's mac mini. Apple's website claimed I needed to have Snow Leopard, and only be able to run Windows 7 x32.

I'm posting this because I saw no advice on the internet specific to the mid-2007 mac mini, so hope this helps someone!

PRE-PREPARATION
0) on a friend's windows machine (unless you know of a imgburn clone for the mac), you MUST burn the windows machine as mentioned in this blog post: http://jowie.com/blog/error404.aspx...t-from-Vista-x64-DVD-burnt-from-iso-file.aspx found via: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/467704/

1) I backed up everything (documents, etc) on the mac.
2) Performed a clean install of osx (10.5.x). This was due to some hard drive very errors that were preventing me from running boot camp setup.
3) Installed all osx software updates.

4) ran boot camp setup. I believe it first mentioned that it required an "XP 32-bit" cd of some sort, but it proceeded to reboot into the cd afterwards.

5) boot into windows 7 cd (SEE ABOVE for burning directions). Let it install

6) I am presumably using an upgrade cd, so I followed the OPTION 3 directions mentioned here during windows installation: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/31402-clean-install-upgrade-windows-7-version.html

7) OK! if you got here you did most things right, but you HAVE NO SOUND  . After going nuts figuring this out, I realized the original mac os cd (no. 1 of 2) has an "idt sigmatel" driver. Click on the executable in this folder to install the driver.
