Install on HDD whilst awaiting mac to arrive?

Hi all,

I'm waiting for a Mac Pro to arrive tomorrow, however bought a SSD for it which arrived today. If I put it in my MBP, could I install OS X so that I dont have to spend time doing it tomorrow?

Basically - can you put a pre-installed OS X hard drive into a mac?

As long as the version of OSX you put on there is recent enough to have drivers for the Mac Pro (and given how long it's been since the Mac Pro was updated I suppose that's not much of an issue) then yes, I think that should work.
