Whew...I have a very interesting problem I've been working on the past few hours. I did a search through the forums to find similar issues, but have been unable to find any. If anyone happens to know of ones that do, I'd be very grateful if they were pointed out to me.
Basically, I have PB1 which has a non-working Superdrive. It has always worked before Tiger was installed, so I'm thinking that the problem might be that Tiger is on it. I wanted to test this thought, so I tried to install Panther, but of course, the non-working Superdrive. I then decided that I'd use PB2, which is in full working order, to install Panther to PB1. When I start the install disc, the lttl picture of the apple shows up and then gets moved to the side with a bit of distortion and the cd does nothing.
I figured, ok, fair enough, I'll just use the original software disc from PB1 and install Jaguar. However, when I put it in PB2, it ALWAYS kernel panics. I've zapped the Pram and pressed down C and all the classic examples. I also figured that maybe Panther has something against Target disk mode, so I even tried putting in the Panther cd before starting up Target disk mode, but the same thing happened...
The interesting thing is that Tiger works. I was able to reinstall PB1's copy of Tiger but, since the issue was against that to begin with, it doesn't really help.
Anyways, if anyone's got any ideas on this, they'd be very appreciated...I'm thinking maybe if I throw PB1 out the window it'll start working??
