Alright, so I received my family pack last Friday and got everything installed on my iMac and my Macbook. What I would like to do is make a dmg of the install disc so I can stow it away for safekeeping and I've heard that installs are faster from an image than from the DVD.
I've made the dmg and I've restored it to an external FW drive, but it won't recognize the drive for the install and when I run the install program off of the drive (from Finder) it tells me, "To install Mac OS X, please use the application provided on the Mac OS X installation disc."
I've also tried booting from the drive, but it is not recognized.
My question is, "Is what I am trying to do possible?" If it is, what am I doing wrong or is there a step-by-step guide anywhere?
Thanks for your help.
