Install stuck black background with apple logo

It went through the entire install with the black background with the white apple logo the bar was completely full then it went off and normally this is where the phone would turn back on and show you your password screen. Well mine went back to the black background with the install bar stuck at the very beginning. Any ideas what happened and how to fix it?

Have you tried a hardware reset? I don't own an iPhone but to do a reset on the iPad you press and hold the HOME and POWER buttons until the screen goes blank and the Apple logo reappears. Once the logo reappears you can let go of both buttons.

Yah i tried that, comes back on and gets stuck in the exact same place.

You need to plug the phone into the pc open up itunes, put the phone in DFU mode heres how: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1034
and then restore the software
