Quick question, looking for a quick answer.

I have an iMac G3 "Snow" 600MHz/640MB/40GB that is running 10.3.9 like a charm. I want to upgrade it to 10.4.11 using my store-bought Tiger install DVD. However the iMac drive is CD-ROM only. But I have a LaCie Firewire External DVD-R/W drive. Can I just hook it up and install from the LaCie over FireWire, or is it more complicated than that?

OR -- SECOND THOUGHT -- how about making a .dmg of the Tiger install DVD, and moving it onto the old iMac via a USB key, or external FW HD??? Maybe that's an even better idea....

Any thoughts???

You can use the external DVD drive with no problem.
