Hi guys,
I got a late 2012 27" iMac, i want to install Windows 8 via bootcamp, my iMac doesn't have a cd drive built in but i got an external samsung bd/cd drive via usb that i use at times. Can i install windows with boot camp throughout the external cd drive or only the apple superdrive works? any inputs would be great before i put the money for a copy of windoze.

Thanks a ton.

You can use any DVD drive that you purchase. I have an LG Blu Ray USB player that I bought for like $50 I think, and it works perfectly on my 2012 Retina MacBook Pro. It's like having a built in drive, only external, and works just the same.

Thanks for the reply but forgot to update this thread, i used a samsung external BD drive to load windows 8.1 via bootcamp, installation went smooth & trouble free :D
