Hello Mac experts,
Here is my question: is it possible to install XP pro UPGRADE (the only version available with the academic discount...) with using a USB drive with a copy of WIN98 that I own? I read that in order to install the XP UPGRADE, you will need an external CD drive with an older, licensed version of WINDOWS. I am not going to buy a second CD drive just to install XP and I don not want to pay the full store price for a full version of XP either. Has anyone ever tried the installation of XP under bootcamp with a USB drive trick?
Otherwise, I am getting closer to actually buying the MacBook pro as my new laptop despite some deficits that I see with it; but no laptop in the under $2000 price range (with academic discount) is absolutely perfect for what I need, which is sad, but what can you do.
I hope that I will be able to get most things done under Mac OS (and that Skype will have a full version for Mac soon... and that there will be a multi network wireless modem available for the express/34 slot soon).
