I have an install disk, Mac OS x leopard. The disk is a backup of my original one which is not here with me. And I tried to use it to reinstall the OS on my macbook pro. But it won't let me. What gives?

Rebooted computer press C. here the drive running with the installation cd in there. Get's to the apple logo, let go of C. CD drive running. then it stop. And the screen is there at the apple logo for a long time without doing anything. And no progress.

Rebooted, this time started up .. pressed option button. The first thing that popup was the hard drive. then about 2 seconds later after it started reading the cd drive, it shows the Mac Os X installation CD. I selected the cd drive and click go... Well it runs then it stop at the apple logo again. And no progress..

What gives? It is a backup copy of the original installation disk. why won't it do it?
