installation problems for windows on mac installs-boot camp and parallels

i am using 2008 macbook white model core 2 duo processor 4gb ram 120gb hdd.

when i trry install windows 7 using boot camp after the whole install is over and i try run my system by clicking on windows 7 icon during boot it shows a black screen with "-" in it with "-" blinking .

while i tried using parallels 6 the installer gets hanged during the middle.(same problem for ubuntu 10.10)

but install of xp using boot camp works fine.

any ideas

By any chance is it a 64 bit edition of Windows 7?

Your Macbook isn't supported for 64 bit, although it can be installed with some work.

No i tried installing only windoes 7 32 bit edition .but even snow leopard is 64 bit and i run snow leopard on my hard drive

There are many reasons for a black/blank screen and cursor (the blinking underscore).

Try some of the solutions in there and tell us what didn't work.
