Installed El Capitan; Mail Won't Recognize Gmail Password

hi. I installed El Capitan, and Mail won't recognize my password. I know I'm entering the right one; I just logged out and into Gmail at Google server. Do I need to create a new account?

Do you have two step verification turned on? If so, you might need to get an app-specific password to bypass two step verification.
