Installed fresh Snow Leopard, and upgraded to El Capitan on 2009 MBP and won't update

I an trying to update the laptop and it won't download the update. It shows NaN GB 0 Bytes and will never download the software update. I've rebooted several times. It's a fresh install, so no Idea why this would be happening. Any help is appreciated.
