Because of a File Vault F-up on my part, I need the text file with the recovery key that was in my documents in Lion.

The problem is that i clean installed Mountain Lion oh the hard drive, but is there any way to recover the "erased" file, if it hasnt yet been written over by something new?

(Question based on my understanding that formatted drives still contain all the info, its just "disconnected" until its eventually written over by something new, is that correct?)

THANKYOU

You could use a file recovery program like Data Rescue 3, but since the drive was encrypted with File Vault 2, it's likely you won't be able to recover any usable information.
