Installed new SSD drive in iMac...won't recognize it????

I installed a 320 Series Intel 120 GB SSD HDD in my 27" iMac tonight. I booted from the Snow Leopard DVD and it asks which volume to install to, but nothing comes up there. Any ideas?

Is the drive initialized ? is it formatted in the Mac file system?

Use disk utility to see if you can "see" the drive.

Ok, I went to disk utility and I can see the drive there.

Now make sure it's formatted in the "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" format.

got it formatted and running, but now my HD fan is running 4400 RPM. I downloaded the HDFanControl trial and it is now running 1100 RPM.

I didn't attach the thermal sensor to anything when I put it back together since there wasn't a slot for it. Is this OK?
