So i just installed a replacement battery from Sonnet. Install was very easy. But once I got the battery charged, I went to fire it up, and the Ipod is stuck on hold. I get the little padlock icon up in the top left corner.

Did I do something wrong? What do I need to do to turn hold off?

Thanks.

Tried everything in both those previous posts already, nothing seems to get it out of lock. The switch is in the lock off position.

Just hope I didn't FUBAR the thing.

Did you happen to unplug the module that has the headphone jack and hold switch? If so, you may have plugged it in backwards, I did that with my iPod. :)

Sounds like a mechanical problem with the switch. When I replaced the battery on my 40GB 3G iPod, I lost part of the switch on the carpet and couldn't find it for the life of me. Now mine's stuck "un-held". Which I suppose is better than the alternative.

Thank you SOOOO much for this great tip. This is really good advice.

When re-connecting the headphone jack on my iPod Photo after a battery replacement, I had accidently plugged in the little ribbon cable the wrong way round and the iPod was permanently 'stuck on hold'. Reversing the ribbon cable has fixed the 'stuck on hold' problem and the iPod works perfectly now.

Many thanks, Tim :):):)
