Installer 4 Progress Report

the following is from the Rip Dev Team's blog about the progress of installer 4 for 2.0

Hi folks! Many of you are wondering what’s up with Installer 4. No, we haven’t slowed down the work on it, and are currently in the final stages of hooking the GUI to the back-end. We will be contacting the authors of the major repositories in a few days to invite them into the testing process and to prepare for the upcoming repository changes.

Hope you’ll like the new functionality and interface when it’s out. Please bear with us and let us know if we have missed something you think is essential in Intaller.

Meanwhile, here’s a few actual screenshots so you can check out how the new Installer 4 will look like:

"thanks?" what? I kept seeing people asking about installer and wanting installer for 2.0 I found that so I posted for THEM to read so they know its on the way and not have pointless comments posted

I just want to know what kind of method you will have to use to obtain it. I don't know if I want to go through all the trouble of jailbreaking again.

na just be a case of uploading via ssh and setting correct permissions

i agree, but for so many people thats a reinstall since ssh is a foreign concept.

They just have to read an SSH guide(for Mac not windows). Which btw should be a sticky somewhere in this forum.

if a ssh guide is made with a neutral ftp client it shouldn't matter about windows or mac required

The 'just have to' wasnt my point. My point is, as you and I both know, people dont read stuff, they come here and post questions . All I was pointing out is that when this does happen and it gets coupled with a jailbreak prog. you will have people rejailbreaking in order to get installer.

Oh yes I got your point I was just reinforcing your point that people just come to post questions. I just added that they SHOULD read the stuff in this forum before asking a question. The 'just have to' part meant it was so easy to just find what they need by reading rather than starting a new thread.
