Installer.app missing! How do i get it back?

Hello all,
suddenly my intalller.app disappeared from my applications folder!
I didn't delete it but it has gone!

I tried to reinstall it using my leopard 10.5.1 installation disks by accessing it through Pacifist. But i didn' find it there.

I don't want to reinstall the whole system. Is there a way to reinstall only the essential system apps?

Does anyone know how to get it back and working?

I am a mac newbie.

mac pro (2008)
leopard 10.5.1
