Installing AirPort Extreme card minus antenna

I want to install an airport exreme card in my old PowerMac G5 tower (I originally bought it without a card) for use with the airport express base station but I lost the T shaped antenna that came with my mac. Will airport still work without it?
The airport express will be hooked up to a new 24" iMac and since my new computer will be located the top floor of my house and the old one will be in the basement I don't know if the computers will be able to communicate with each other without the antenna.

It'll probably work but with massively reduced range. It sounds like you are going to be needing the range. I'd contact Apple and ask them if they can supply a new one, or start looking on eBay...

If the antenna is a screw-on part, you might find one on ebay or some place similar. if not, then buy another airport card from ebay.
