I bought Aperture 3 before the app store came out on my iMac. i see in the app store on the computer with aperture installed that it says installed. i want to be able to install it on my mac book pro that uses the same apple Id. i see in the app store on the mac book that it shows the price. how do i "re-download" the app when i didn't purchase it through the app store.

1. Install it from the disc that came with your Aperture

2. Download the 30-day trial from here if you don't have the boxed version

In both cases, just use the serial you bought for Aperture, no Apple ID required, I think

i guess i could do that, but i'm wondering how to do it with the app store since it is advertised as being easy to re download a previously purchased app

You can't. Re-downloading through the App Store only works if you purchased the app from the App Store to begin with.
