Hello,

I will receive my new Macbook Pro 2016 in a few days and I was thinking about buying the Samsung T3 external SSD.

I was just wondering if it could be possible to install some apps directly on the external SSD instead of the internal one. For example, if I want to use XCode from time to time, can I install it on the external SSD and then, run it from there when I need it? If it is possible, will it be a lot less quick than on the internal SSD?

Thanks!

Anything from the MAS, won't give you the option, it will just download/install straight to your internal drive. I think other apps that you can drag and drop will easily go on an external drive and some that have installers may be fine on external drives.

I don't know about xCode, however.
