Trying to install an app (uTorrent) and I am not sure it installs - I get a box come up with a picture of the logo then an arrow pointing to the apps folder but I cannot seem to find it in there?

also, I have steam running and it always seems to be in the bar at the bottom but I dont want it to be, is there any way of removing it from there without quitting the program as I need it to run Football Manager?

Right click on steam icon, it will show settings like "remove from dock" and "don't run at login"

The arrow means to click and drag the app onto the Apps Folder to install it

so simple once you know how. :D

New to this, only had it switched on about 2 hours after santa delivered it yesterday :D

When I install new apps, why do the apps create an hard drive looking icon on the desktop and is it safe to eject them?

It is after you've drag and dropped icon to your applications folder, eject or slide it to trash, then open from applications.

Why does iMac create that desktop icon that we need to eject or trash?

Please read above link.

Anyway, as you can download many applications in DMG format, which is a Disk iMaGe, the DMG needs to be mounted, then the application needs to be dragged to the Applications folder and then the DMG can safely be ejected. See the DMG as CD or DVD or USB flash memory thumb drive, that needs to be eject prior to physical removal.

Because the app is "mounted" for the install.
It's confusing, but highlights a huge difference between Mac and w7
