Installing itunes 9.0.2

Ok, it may sound like a total noob question, but how do i install itunes 9.0.2 if i have downloaded it. nobody tell m to go into the apple menu and click software update because i can't, even though i have a wireless internet connection, whenever i try to do a software update, network diagnostics says the server failed.when i download it, it says that it is a binary file, but the file extension is .dmg, and there are only 2 files, a "read before you intsall itunes"
and itunes.mpkg how do i install it?

Mount the dmg file and double click the mpkg and it will install.

it still won't connect to my itouch, and when i clicked check for updates, it said that 9.0.2 still needed to be installed. when i double click the mpkg, is there some indicator that it's installing?
