installing leopard from different start up disc

i'm trying to install leopard on my Imac G5 running tiger but here's the deal. i got a leopard start up disc from another Imac thinking that i could just put leopard on my Imac...all the requirements are met but it doesn't work.

can this be done or am i just crazy?

It can't be done. Aside from the legality those discs will only work on an iMac of that iteration.
