Installing Leopard With External Disk Drive

Hello, perhaps someone can help me install Leopard. Basically, my PowerBook's SuperDrive (among other things) is broken - and I have a USB external disk drive. After trying several times to boot off it - I found out that I cannot boot of USB things. I've tried looking for how to install Leopard with what I've got, but to no avail. I don't particularly have any Mac friends either nor an iPod that I can boot off (though I do have a USB external hard disk). In fact, I don't have anything Firewire at all.

So the question is: how can I install Leopard with what I've got?
