Hi folks,

I used to run Lightroom on my Windows PC – not the latest cloud version, but an older one that worked offline, without a subscription.

Now I’ve switched to macOS and got a new MacBook Air with the M4 chip. I’d love to continue using Lightroom, but I’m not interested in a Creative Cloud plan.

Is there a way to run an older standalone version of Lightroom (like Lightroom 6 or Classic) on Apple Silicon Macs?

- Where can I get a compatible installer?
- Will it run natively on M4, or do I need Rosetta?
- Any tips for clean installation and avoiding Creative Cloud login?

Really appreciate any help or guidance from people who’ve done something similar!

Thanks!

You cannot run the Lightroom 6 installer on any recent version of macOS as it’s a 32-bit app and Apple dropped 32-bit sort way back with macOS 10.15. There is no compatible installer. I believe all the related licensing parts of the software are also 32-bit so you won’t be able to activate the app even if you copied it from an older computer.
