I tried doing a ubuntu install, but my G5 said something about not being able to find a place to mount it and "no mountable system files" so much for a operating system install being easy. Anyway, does anyone know what is causing this issue, and how to fix it?
 
You'll need to provide a bit more detail. Which Linux distro are you trying to install onto which model G5? When did the error message occur?

Mac OS X install is easy, Linux on the other hand can get a bit tricky.

Are you installing onto a USB stick by any chance? I had a similar issue while doing so with Debian and remember needing to edit the yaboot configuration for it to boot.
