Installing Memory on MBP 15" 2011

Hey there,
I've just bought upgraded ram (8GB) to replace the old 4GB, and I remember reading somewhere along the inter webs that after the installation of ram that one should do a "memory reboot" or something along those lines..? Can anyone help me out with what exactly that person would be talking about?

No need. Just shutdown the MacBook Pro fully, install new RAM and you're all done! You can run a memtest to see if the RAM is defective. Usually you'll get beachballing/kernel panics if the memory is faulty.

Not sure if you already paid for that memtest already, not worth it, if you have your leopard install/restore DVD that came with your laptop, there's a mem test in it, which is same if not better
