I'm planning on buying the Momentus XT, I was going to go the SSD route but the prices on those are still pretty high. Since Seagate finally sent out the firmware everyone has been waiting for, I'm going to take the plunge. Anyway,

1. What would be the fastest way to move all my files from my current HDD to the new momentus xt?

2. Can I just install the momentus XT and boot from the restore disk that was included with my laptop and install Snow Leopard that way?

btw does the Snow Leopard restore disc that comes with the laptop have the actual OS in it? As in I can use that disc to install a fresh copy of Snow Leopard without having to clone and just start fresh?

It has a copy of the OS on it, that way you can do a clean installation.

To create a Clean Install (formerly known as Erase & Install) of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, follow one of the following guides:
Short version: Clean Install of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
Long version: Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard: How to Erase and Install
