I had a lot of problems with my iMac G4, so I decided to reinstall the 10.4 onto it. I booted up from the 10.4 CD, selected the erase and fresh install option, and let it go. An unexpected error occurred, and I had to try again.

On my second try, I got a kernal panic while it was installing.

Well, I decided to boot up from the CD that came with the iMac, which is 10.2. I hear the start-up sound, the gray background appears, the Apple logo appears, and then half the display suddenly goes warped and the screen freezes.

I don't know what to do. I can't access the computer because everything has been erased, but I can't install a new OS because of who knows why.

I tried setting my iMac into firewire target disc mode connected to my MBP and using my MBP running Leopard to run the Tiger install DVD. However, the 10.4 installer won't run since I'm running 10.5 on the MBP.

Edit: The Tiger DVD is retail. The Apple Hardware test said everything was fine. I even zeroed out the hard drive with Disk Utility on the Tiger DVD before installing, but I still got an unexpected error.
