The hard drive in my black macbook recently died, so I (naturally) bought a new Western Digital HDD. I have an installation DVD of OS X Leopard, but when I boot to it, I cannot install or partition my HD. In fact, I can't interact with it at all through the bootable disk. I'm as positive as I can be that it's not a hardware issue. Also I do NOT have a restoration disk from apple, as I bought the computer second hand from a friend and he did not have the disk. Is there any way to get OS X back on my computer? Thanks,
Sam

If I buy a disk, will it actually install correctly, or just face the same problem that I already have?
