Hello all,
I plan on getting the Mac Mini Quad i7 this holiday, and I am trying to research something. I would like to swap out one of the drives with an SSD.
Now, when I install Linux, or even Solaris, I have the option of putting the root partition on one volume, and say /var and /swap on another during the install process. Apple's install is very streamlined and I can't seem to find a way to do this.
With OS X, is there a way for me to put the root folder (/) on the SSD and the mount point for /users and /var on the HDD without just using links? I want the system files and applications to be on the SSD, and all of my user data + log/message files on my larger HDD. I'd like to avoid using any kind of symlinks if possible but if that is the only way, I'll settle. I'd just rather do it cleanly and have the system aware that the different mount points reside on different volumes.
Thanks!
