The Problem: I put in my original OS Install CD (the ones shipped with new computers - a PB in my case). I double click "Install Bundled Software Only" and after 30 seconds or so of the CD spinning like crazy I get an error message that says:

Error Reading Package
The package is damaged and cannont be read

The Background: My PB originally shipped with 10.3.7. I've since upgraded to Tiger and recently updated Tiger to 10.4.3.

So, how can a package be damaged on the CD (the original 10.3.7 CD) or is this a problem with Tiger?

I'm wanting to put Quicken back on the laptop to play around with a few things. But the bigger problem - I can't install ANYTHING within the Bundled Software Package.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

2 things have happened recently to my laptop. I updated to 10.4.3 and had the logic board replaced because I had the lower RAM slot failure.

Thanks.

Interesting. Have you tried using PACIFIST to extract the individual packages?

Also, have you inserted the disc (when your in the finder) and opend it, right clicked on the package (which is an alias, I believe) and then chosen SHOW PACKAGE contents? You may be able to drag the individual package from there to your desktop and install it.

Pacifist worked. Thanks.

I'm still a little confused about why I'm getting the errors listed in the install.log, but at least I have a work around.
