Installing Panther over OS 9.2.2

Can I install Panther on a partition containing only 9.2.2, keeping OS 9 as a startup disk option?

Jaguar worked this way, but I haven't heard anything regarding Panthers relation to 9. Unfortunately I still need it there. Any help would be appreciated, as I'm getting my copy of Panther on Monday.

I have 9.2.2 and Panther installed on the same partition. However, I haven't tried booting into 9. But the Panther installer doesn't delete the 9 system folder or anything.
