Hello. I have an iMac running on High Sierra (2009) and would like to install the home version of Parallels in order to run a couple of programs on Windows 10 occasionally. I am just a little concerned about the ease of installation, as I can't find any information on this aspect of it. I am in my eighty-sixth year, and wonder if I should take it somewhere to have it installed. I don't want to spend money on something that might prove to be a problem. Any advice appreciated.

Parallels and Virtualbox are 2 different things. Which are you using? Parallels has good documentation and is better supported than the free Virtualbox, so I'd suggest going with that, and looking at their documentation.

Thanks for the prompt response, and apologies for any confusion. I have Parallels in mind, not yet purchased, but have no idea of the level of IT skill I would need to install the program. My technical skills in the computer field are not very well honed, I'm afraid, and I'm just a bit apprehensive about my ability to cope with the job. Previously, I haven't had to worry, as a buddy of mine who is Apple certified, has helped me out, but he has just moved to Wales (I am in the UK) and I can't find his mobile number. As I said earlier, I can't find anything about the installation details. Thanks again for your interest.
