I recently asked a question as to whether this is possible and was told that it was, and to drag the s/w to the HDD. But could someone please walk me through the steps? Do I have to download a fresh copy of the software, or can I transfer what I'm already using (Free s/w and free trials)? I've never tried anything like this before, so I need detailed instructions. Please take the time to help me out!

It depends upon the software. Some software is completely contained within a single file such as VLC, while other software such as Photoshop has the program file as well as supporting files for it which would need to be transferred along with the application. What software are you trying to install from the external?

The software I want to install:

1) Growl (free)
2) iGTD (free)
3) Scrivener (paid but free trial)

Thanks for the help!
