Installing Snow Leopard Beta means Reformat for Final Release?

When you install snow leopard beta and the final is released, can you use the final cd and simply upgrade to the final build? Or do you have to reformat?

If you use the SL beta from bittorrent you will not be able to install the final release at all.

Why's that?

Getting it from Bittorent is dumb. People have already put trojans in "the latest" mac software, and you can bet they will continue to do so. This is besides the whole legality issue... it is just dumb.

And Apple has always told legitimate testers to install clean as they don't test to make sure that a dirty path will work out.
