Installing software... Keeps asking for password

I am the only user on my iMac and my profile is listed as Admin. Why do I need to keep entering my password when I install new software? How do I change this?

I think it's part of the user agreement - it's like signing a contract.

This is how MacOS X works. Software that uses the Installer must be authenticated by an Administrator. There are no exceptions.

You don't want software to install without password verification. That opens the door to all kinds of potential nasties.
