Hopefully installing my first SSD in my 2010 13" MBP today, just making sure I've got everything right.
I've backed up on Time Machine, and will do again before I install it.
I have a ML copy on a USB.
I'm going to take out the Hard Drive, install the SSD, run off the USB and install ML, then use my Time Machine backup.
This is right?
It's a 256GB Samsung 830 by the way.

That will work, but you can make it even easier. Since you made the TM backup with Mountain Lion, there is a bootable restore area on the Time Machine disk. So once you have the new drive in just option key boot to the Time Machine drive. Then use Disk Util to format the SSD and restore. This will put the OS and all your apps and data back on the SSD. No need to do the USB Mountain Lion install.

another option is used ssd in an external enclosure,
format to extended journal and use super duper (free over internet)
to copy over to ssd drive.
Make sure ssd dive works externally, and swap the drives.
There are so many ways to skin a cat, that is good about apple products.
