We've got a 2ghz iMac Core Duo in the office - we bought it pretty much as soon as the model was announced.
The need has arisen to wipe it and re-install the OS. So I enthusiastically set about the task, but kept hitting an error before I had a chance to do anything ... the error is:
'this software cannot be installed on this machine'
Having read around a little, it seems like a few people have come across the same problem, and the explanation given is that you need the exact installation DVDs that came with the iMac when we bought it.
Unfortunately we've lost the DVDs, and I was trying to use the Tiger installation DVDs that came with a Core 2 Duo iMac we bought a month or so ago.
What's going on here? How come I can't use the 10.4.10 install DVD? Do I really need the old DVDs? If so, what's the version number that I need and where can I get them from?
Many thanks for any help!
Chris
