Not sure if this is a software or hardware issue. I am a fairly new mac user. I bought a second hand late 2009 27" imac. The superdrive would not eject cds so I replaced it with an SSD. I am using a generic external USB DVD drive and attempting to install windows 7 via bootcamp.

When I run bootcamp, I partition my SSD to accept windows. When I restart to boot from the windows DVD by holding the Option key, I see the windows disk. However when I try to boot from it, I just get a black screen. I can boot from this DVD on my windows laptop so I believe the disk is fine.

I've done a lot of google searches and see a lot of issues regarding bootcamp, but nothing to resolve this issue. Any assistance would be appreciated.
